About

Hi, I'm Elissa Brown, Founder of Black Girls Pickle, Too

I moved to Atlanta in 2024 and was introduced to pickleball through my job. We started playing weekly games on Thursdays, and I fell in love with it. It started as a way to meet people in my new city, but pickleball quickly became my new passion. I joined a league then it quickly turned into daily games, different courts, and competitive tournaments.

As I got more involved, I noticed something: there weren’t many people who looked like me on the courts. And when you’re showing up alone to play, it can be hard to break into groups where everyone already seems to know each other. So I decided to do something about it.

I created a social media page called Black Girls Pickle, Too—a space to showcase and celebrate Black women playing pickleball and to invite more of us to play. It’s meant to be a safe, welcoming place for our people to come together, compete, connect, and try something new.

Representation Matters on ALL courts!

Within Black Girls Pickle, Too, I host beginner-friendly meetups and social events. We support each other’s growth, collaborate, network, and remind each other that joy and wellness are imperative for Black women. So if you’ve been thinking about trying pickleball, this is your sign.

Black Girls Pickle, Too! And we’re just getting started!
